Specular Microscopy

To best way to perform specular microscopy is with a modern non-contact specular microscope. 

The microscope captures an image of the endothelial cells on the back surface of the cornea and the doctor analyzes the resuls to make an assessment about the health of your cornea.

Specular microscopy may be indicated in the following clinical situations

  • contact lens wear
  • evaluation of uveitis
  • evaluaton of corneal edema
  • evaluation of corneal opacity
  • evaluation of neovascularization
  • evaluation of endotheliopathies
  • preoperative risk assessment (cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, refractive surgery)
  • postoperative surgical management

Our office is open for routine and medical eye care.

Please be advised of new protocols the office will have in place to protect our patients as well as our staff:

Call the office when you arrive for an appointment with the doctor or if you have an appointment to pick up eyewear, a tech will ask you a few questions before meeting you at the door.

*Patients will be required to wear a mask. A staff member will check your temperature upon entering.

*Only one parent will be allowed with a minor in the office. All other family members will need to wait in their vehicle.
